Roger Rosenblatt’s Rules for Aging

RogRuleser Rosenblatt has written some sound advice in his piece "rules for aging," Here’s a summary of some of the rules he advocates:  1. It doesn’t matter. Whatever you think matters really doesn’t. 2. Yes, you did. If you have the slightest doubt whether you are responsible for a wrong – you are. Come to this conclusion early and act to correct it. 3. Nobody is thinking about you. I promise you, nobody is thinking about you. They are too busy thinking about themselves. 4. Ignore your enemy or kill him. The idea is not to care. Not just pretend you don’t care, but really don’t care. 5.  Envy no one. Don’t envy anyone – ever. 6. To thine own self be true, unless you need to change. If you really don’t like who you are, you may be right.  7.  A swine is always a swine. There may be some people who are susceptible to change, but why take a chance? Until proven otherwise, consider them still a swine.
