THOM HARTMANN & POLITICAL REALITY

THOM HARTMANN & POLITICAL REALITY

The Huffington Post had an interview with Thom Hartmann that was not only politically interesting, but had some good insight on communications. Hartmann has written a book Cracking the Code involving communications. Regarding politics, he says that the Bush administration was totally sleeping at the switch regarding the threat of terrorist activity. He was quoted as saying: "There’s considerable evidence that before the 2001 attack, whether it was intentional or not, nobody was paying attention and everybody was asleep at…

HUFFINGTON’S BLOG ABOUT GUTLESS DEMOCRATS

HUFFINGTON’S BLOG ABOUT GUTLESS DEMOCRATS

I admit to being a big fan of Arianna Huffington’s political views. She has a way of expressing her views that are clear and simple. Her ability to find the right metaphor is a big part of why I like to read what she writes. Her blog has a piece about the Democratic’s caving in to the Republicans on key issues. As she quotes from the Washington Post, "mostly quiet acquiescence, if not outright support" of Republican positions. Nancy Pelosi…

THE IRAQ COSTS GO UP & THE DOLLAR GOES DOWN

THE IRAQ COSTS GO UP & THE DOLLAR GOES DOWN

The Sunday newspaper published a letter to the editor which was a brief, but accurate, summary of why our dollar growing weaker. The writer pointed out that our national debt has doubled in the last seven years. He notes that the oil producing countries of the Persian Gulf are considering the abandonment of the dollar as their…

I think I’ve identified everyone correctly. Starting in the back row from the left are: Edward Dawson, Spokane; Duane Lund, deceased;J. Peter Tonkoff, Yakima, deceased; Nelvin Bettis, deceased. Herb Freise, deceased; Aaron May, Tacoma, deceased. In the front row from the left are: Paul Luvera, Gig Harbor;…

REMEMBER PEARL HARBOR, DECEMBER 7, 1941 – THE START OF WORLD WAR II FOR AMERICA

It was on a Sunday December 7th some sixty years ago in 1941 that the plans of Isoroku Yamamoto were put into action. Yamamoto had studied at Harvard in 1919 and graduated in 1921. He had already graduated from Japan’s Imperial navy academy in 1904 at only 20 years old. In 1926 he returned to the United States for another two years as a Japanese naval attache in Washington. By 1930 he had become an admiral and one fully familiar…

NON VERBAL COMMUNICATION OF LOVE

NON VERBAL COMMUNICATION OF LOVE

Today at church a white haired man in his late 70’s wheeled a woman of the same age in a wheel chair to the area in front of the pew where I was seated. He had on thick rimmed  eye glasses that went out of style a long time ago. He had an old fashioned pair of suspenders holding up his somewhat baggy pants that were already firmly secured by a belt. I was distracted by his actions towards his…
