I’ve subscribed to Dr. Julian Whitaker’s Health & Healing newsletter for a number of years. While I don’t agree with everything he recommends, I find his ideas, research and recommendations about alternative medicine remedies reliable. Over the years I’ve followed, in his newsletter, the events involving Dr. Stanislaw Burzynski M.D. In the 1960’s Dr. Burzynski, found new and successful way of treating cancer. His treatment was based upon his discovery that peptides or protein fragments were absent in the blood of people with cancer. He theorized that they must have something to do with the body’s protection against cancer. He named these fragments "Antineoplastons" and experimented with the administration of them as a way of attacking the cancer. He found a way to isolate these peptides from blood and urine and, after testing, how to synthesize them in a lab for administration to people with cancers. He began treating cancers with this method and was highly successful. As his methods became more public he also came to the attention of the FDA and the medical establishment who had a much different approach to cancer treatment.

In spite of his great success in the treatment of people with cancer, the FDA and medical establishment began a campaign against him and the treatment. His office was raided and criminal charges were filed against him over his cancer treatment. (See Burzynski Breakthrough by Thomas D. Elias) He was acquitted of all charges and survived a prolonged attempt to stop his treatments. Since then, Dr. Whitaker reports, his Houston clinic has successfully treated more than 50 kinds of cancer, with particular success involving cancers of the brain.
