OUR TRIP TO EUROPE
Tomorrow, Monday, we fly to London, then on to Milan, Italy and from there by car to beautiful Lake Como where we will stay for several days. From there we travel by car to Venice and spend another two days before boarding the Seaborn Spirit for a cruise down the Adriatic. At Lake Como we are staying at
the Castadiva Resort which is located on six acres right on the lake. It was the residence of a 19th century opera singer, Giuditta Pasta. This five star hotel sat vacant for half a century until it was converted into a 75 room hotel. Lake Como is beautiful and where George Clonney has a home.
In Venice we are staying at a five star small hotel with 97 guest rooms and 22 suites right on the canal. Bauers Il Palazza Hotel is only a couple of minutes from St Mark's Square and should be a great location for our Venice stay. One reaches the hotel by water taxi to the front door.
After that we board the Spirit. This Seaborn vessel is 440 feet long with a guest capacity of only 200 passengers. While it was launched in1989 it was refubished in 2007 and the public rooms were extensively refurbished in 2010 making it a luxury cruise ship. It has 104 ocean view suites one of which we are staying in. The schedule stops include stops in Kotor Montenegro, Corfu Greece, Brindisi Italy, Dubrovnik Croatia, Split Croatia and Rovinj Croatia. In Split we have arranged a car to take the ferry to the small island of Brac where my mother's family are from.
This will be our third or fourth cruise on a Seaborn ship. We have found this line has ships the size we like and a cruise will be a good way for us to start traveling to Europe again after a year of treatment of my knee and no traveling. I hope to post reports of our travel.
