We stayed in Glasgow at a delightful hotel, the Hotel du Vin at One Devonshire Gardens. The hotel opened in 1996 along a tree lined street. There were old Victorian town houses in this area and the hotel consists of five of them which have been converted into a single hotel. The interior is true to its history and tastefully done. We Caught a three hour Portugal Air flight from Maderia to Gatwick in London. I didn't realize how short the runway is on the island. We left Seattle on British Air for London on Wednesday at 10:00 pm. A very late hour for someone who is usually in bed by 9:30. It was a full flight. RBC Ministries publishes a useful daily devotional Our Daily Bread which I enjoy reading each day. The AP Press reported that Jack Lohrke died last Wednesday in San Jose, California at age 85. He was a former major league infielder who played in the 1940's and 1950's. In his rookie year, in 1947 he hit the Giants 183rd homer of the season breaking a team record. Lohrke was two years with the Phillies and several seasons in the Pacific Coast league before retiring.
