GLASGOW SCOTLAND & LONDON

GLASGOW SCOTLAND & LONDON

We stayed in Glasgow at a delightful hotel, the Hotel du Vin at One Devonshire Gardens. The hotel opened in 1996 along a tree lined street. There were old Victorian town houses in this area and the hotel consists of five of them which have been converted into a single hotel. The interior is true to its history and tastefully done. We exited the train with all of our luggage which has somehow become heavier and larger. The rest of the…

THE ROYAL SCOTMAN

THE ROYAL SCOTMAN

I was able to visit a couple of national art galleries in Edinburgh the morning before we went to the train station. At noon we had a quick meal and then piled into a taxi with all six bags of luggage and a man from the hotel dressed in a kilt. We drove around the corner of the hotel and down into the train station area. It was a very large station with a couple of levels and a glass…

MADERIA PORTUGAL

MADERIA PORTUGAL

Our flight from Lisbon to Maderia was easy and the airport is small so that luggage arrived in a short time. However, once more three bags came quickly and the last one did not. After biting my lip and worrying I realized that a black bag that had been circling was actually my red bag. I had been watching for a red bag, but the suitcase was turned over and the back side was totally black so I had missed…

TRAVEL REPORT FROM PORTUGAL

TRAVEL REPORT FROM PORTUGAL

We left Seattle on British Air for London on Wednesday at 10:00 pm. A very late hour for someone who is usually in  bed by 9:30. It was a full flight. Who said the airlines are hurting because no one is flying? We then had a four plus hour layover before getting our next flight to Lisbon, Portugal at 8:00 pm and arrive at 10:30 pm. Talk about a long travel day! We will be dead for two days after arrival. We…

FROM CABO, MEXICO TO SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA

FROM CABO, MEXICO TO SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA

We have safely exited the border and returned to the United States without any known symptoms of the Swine Flu. As the news kept getting more and more grim about the flu we became concerned about possible restrictions getting home. In fact, today’s local paper quotes people in Congress, including Arizona’s John McCain, suggesting we might have to close the border. Our hotel had 295 cancellations during the week we were there and the hotel where we had our meetings was only thirty…

GREETINGS FROM CABO SAN LUCAS MEXICO

GREETINGS FROM CABO SAN LUCAS MEXICO

We are at the beautiful Las Ventanas Resort at Los Cabos, Mexico. This Rosewood Hotel Resort in Baja California Sur is a five star hotel that is as elegant and as nice a resort as you will find anywhere in Mexico. We are between San Jose and the town of Cabo, but closer, by far to San Jose. The hotel is on the sandy beach. The flight from Seattle on Alaska Air is an easy 3.5 hour flight and the immigration as…

FINAL REPORT FROM COSTA RICA

FINAL REPORT FROM COSTA RICA

Sunday  was the first really hot day we have had in Costa Rica. There was little breeze and it was in the high 80's here. We spent a good part of the day of the day cooling off in the pool and reading in the shade. The office staff arrived last night and were out in full force that morning. They spent time in the pool and made trips to the small town of Taramindo near here. We had our welcome…

ANOTHER REPORT FROM COSTA RICA

ANOTHER REPORT FROM COSTA RICA

Yesterday we went to the pool reserved for adults. There some covered canopy set up’s with a sign says it’s a no reservation arrangement so if you are gone more then thirty minutes you lose it. The empty ones all had a towel or book or personal item on them so we sat elsewhere and read. No one appeared to claim the empty ones for a couple of hours so we asked the attendant who was very reluctant to take…

REPORTING FROM COSTA RICA

REPORTING FROM COSTA RICA

We have moved from the Four Seasons to the Paradisus Playa Conchal Resort about an hour away by car. The trip here gave us a chance to see the country a little bit. The road is a two lane asphalt road without shoulders. Cars pass people on bikes riding on the edge of the road with only inches of clearance. But, the speed limit is 40 mph and our driver averaged 37 mph so it wasn't too  bad. This was a Rural…

PURA VIDA – 2nd REPORT FROM COSTA RICA

PURA VIDA – 2nd REPORT FROM COSTA RICA

It's a little hard to report on events in Costa Rica when you only leave your room for meals, but since this room has an outdoor patio looking out over the water and a dip pool there is little reason to leave. Yesterday, at daybreak, Lita got a driver in a golf cart and had him take her to where the Howler Monkeys were making racket. She took some pictures of them and she was thrilled she saw them up…
